I've been trying to learn Japanese for a while now and hadn't found the correct format for me.

I've been listening to this CD while commuting over the past week and I'm impressed by the amount I've managed to retain. The course covers useful phrases and has a native speaker to correct enounciation. I've not yet started the second CD, but judging by the first I should be able to speak all the basics within the next couple of weeks.

I would say this product was a good starting point for people interested in the language.

Good - but you may prefer to just buy the Foundation Course

I bought this two-disc introductory course at the beginning of January.

I have found it very useful (as in i have now learnt all of the contents) but it does only contain the first two discs of the Foundation Course anyway.. Which means when i do buy the Foundation Course i'll be starting from a qtr of the way in. In hindsight i probably would have just gone ahead and bought the Foundation Course but if you're completely new to learning languages this is a good idea as it gives you a feel for the format and provides an indication of it's suitability for you.

It helps provide you with the sentance structures and minimal vocabulary - which is great because as you learn more words (nouns etc) you instantly know how to use them on sentances.

If you listen to it enough times it is almost impossible to forget. Plus the Japanese native speaker is very helpful
