This really is the ultimate answer to Life, the Universe and Everything - all five radio series of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy collected together for the first time, in a handsome box with magnetic lid. From the original Primary and Secondary Phases, through to the more recent Tertiary, Quandary and Quintessential Phases, these are the adventures of Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Zaphod Beeblebrox and their assorted human, robotic and alien companions. These full-cast BBC Radio 4 dramas star Simon Jones, Peter Jones, Geoffrey McGivern, Mark Wing-Davey, Stephen Moore and Susan Sheridan, with a stellar guest cast including John le Mesurier, Joanna Lumley, Christian Slater, Jackie Mason, Sandra Dickinson, Rula Lenska, Griff Rhys Jones and Jonathan Pryce. Also included is an exclusive bonus disc containing two programmes from the BBC Archive: Kaleidoscope from 1980 (going behind the scenes of the second series) and Six Characters in Search of an Answer: a programme about Arthur Dent from 2002.

First two Phases are some the best radio books ever

The primary and secondary phase are pure genious, the mix between random and funny is perfect, however the 3rd to 5th phases are nothing to shout about, last half an hour of the 5th is good but tertiary to quintessential aren't special. So i rate 1-2 five stars and 3-5 four stars (so average about 5)

 Tertiary Phase

I listened to the Tertiary Phase over a couple of car journeys recently and I thought it was superb, had me laughing out loud and enjoying the random ingenuity of Douglas's mind on many occasions. Love it. Also love the first two series, and am contemplating buying the other two series I don't yet have, hence looking at this listing. Very tempting. Can't exactly comment on this actual item though as I haven't bought it yet, have to give a star rating so 5 stars for the radio production, less a star for not having the actual item! Sorry if confusing but I just felt compelled to say how much I enjoyed the Tertiary Phase after reading the other poster's comment.
