Harry Patch, 108 years old, is the last British soldier alive to have fought in the trenches of the First World War. From his vivid memories of an Edwardian childhood, the horror of the Great War and fighting in the mud during the Battle of Passchendaele, working on the home front in the Second World War and fame in later life as a veteran, "The Last Fighting Tommy" is the story of an ordinary man's extraordinary life.

A easy read, good story of the mans life with good factual accounts of parts of World War 1 and 2. Nice to find out about life 100 years ago. Worth a read.

This is one of the best autobiographies I have ever read. I did not know what to expect, but once starting to read, could not put it down. It is told with openness annd humility. Harry classed himself as an ordinary man, but he was so much more than that. Some of the stories of his childhood are very moving, as are the details of the first. world war trench warfare. I would recommend this book.to everyone.
