Bestselling author Robert Greene combines forces with 50 Cent to help you get ahead. The ultimate hustle is to move freely between the street and corporate worlds, to find your flow and never stay locked in the same position. This is a manifesto for how to operate in the 21st century, where everything has been turned on its head. Building on the runaway success of Robert Greene's "The 48 Laws of Power" (almost half a million copies sold), the 'modern Machiavelli' teams up with rapper 50 Cent to show how the power game of success can be played to your advantage. Drawing on the lore of gangsters, hustlers, and hip-hop artists, as well as 50 Cent's business and artistic dealings, the authors present the Laws of 50, revealing how to become a master strategist and supreme realist. Success comes from seeking an advantage in each and every encounter, and "The 50th Law" offers indispensable advice on how to win in business - and in life.

I gained a lot from Greens work in the past and like the concept of collaborating with Fifty to create a street strategy guide to overcoming obstacles. The book focuses mainly on creating a fearless attitude, however it is nowhere near the standard I would expect from Greene and suffers from a few flaws:

The book seems to be a bit of a rush job with a real lack of depth. Greene allegedly spent a year with Fifty, however it seems he did a quick web search on the guy as the examples are very paper-thin and repetitive with the same examples being used over and over again.
There appears to be zero input from Fifty. There is defiantly not enough focus on the struggle and strategies of living in the streets, of taking the risk to develop yourself beyond your circumstances. There is no talk about how Fifty survived jail time, the streets, the backstabbing music industry. It all seems to be glossed over.

Overall its worth a read to gleam a few diamonds amongst the rocks, however if you are a fan of Greene you will be disappointed. There is very few historical examples to back up the guidelines, and far too many jazz analogies. No offence, but jazz wont help you survive in the barrio.
