The summer holidays are dragging on and Harry Potter can't wait for the start of the school year. It is his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and there are spells to be learnt and (unluckily) Potions and Divination lessons to be attended. But Harry can't know that the atmosphere is darkening around him, and his worst enemy is preparing a fate that it seems will be inescapable ...With characteristic wit, fast-paced humour and marvellous emotional depth, J.K. Rowling has proved herself yet again to be a master story-teller.

This book for me, in my opinion, really set the starting line for the Harry Potter series. I think this book really showed the maturity that the main characters have gained since the first three books. The plot is genius and is extremely well written. I loved the fact that the book has you guessing throughout as to what is actually happening and how, then how it all ties up nicely in the ending chapters. I can't wait to start Order Of The Phoenix and find out what J.K Rowling has left to surprise me with!

 Best of the lot.

This was the only Harry Potter book i bought upon its release in the summer of 2001, mainly due to the hysteria around it, i was 12 and hadn't read any of the previous books...however on the same day i bought this book i also bought the three before it. Within 3 and a half weeks i had read all of the books, the Goblet of Fire taking just under 3 days.
I have to say that having now read the entire collection that this is by far my favourite by a long stretch....it has all the ingredients to make for a perfect book. And the story despite having many twist and turns and complications never bores or lets your mind get away...it is possibly the only book that I have ever read that has gripped me so much to not want to turn away.
Definitely a must read.

This book is twice as long as the ones that have come before it. Again it is darker than the books that have come before it. However, compared to the previous books it is slightly harder to read (for children). Lots of hidden clues as to what is in store and plenty of jokes for the adults to pick on in this book. Also, a lot better than the film as so much had to be missed out; such as the Quidditch World Cup and Winky the house elf.
