The book contains detailed game instructions but lacks one of the most important components of a Pokemon guide - the full evolution/move guide for each creature!

Disappointing!!

Don't let other reviews fool you - this is an absolute steal for just 8 quid! Ok so big deal it's not got a proper pokedex (all it has is pictures of all the 150 sinnoh pokemon and where they can be seen - basically so you can access the national pokedex which then allows you to transfer pokemon from the gameboy advance games ruby, sapphire, emerald, fire red & leaf green). It doesn't even tell you which evolves into which and at what level, but for the most part you can tell. It's more than obvious they want to make the most out of their second book which is a pokedex on all the pokemon from red and blue right through to diamond and pearl. The book would have been inconceivably enormous had both been in one! The one other gripe I have about this guide is it involves a fair bit of page flicking because every task for each area is covered at once, rather than periodically when they become available. Perhaps this is because there is no set order to complete absolutely everything.

What it DOES have is maps to every area in the game, displaying items on the floor in the form of pokeballs (hidden ones aren't displayed but they're never usually more than a max revive or a rare candy anyway). It also has a whole section of fantastic charts at the back listing every item, every move and more in the game with descriptions. Furthermore it has sections on wireless functions and on contests to make the most out of the game once you have beaten the elite four.

I recommend this guide to anyone who wants a guide to turn to at any time while playing through the game and for future reference. Although the internet has plenty of guides, nothing quite beats the good old paperback for portability.

Full colour, 300 pages, nearly keeps my child occupied as long as the game. And at £8.99.......Bargain!!

Was looking forward to finally getting to use this but it felt somewhat lacking with not enough detail e.g. no details of each battle that you'll encounter. Also the layout was somewhat confusing with it telling you to do tasks that you're only able to later on in the game. I now just use it for the maps and use a guide online from a fellow player.
