You can call using one of these as cheating as much as you like, but it makes no difference. If you look back to GTA SA you will understand the need for one. There is so much detail in GTA's these days you could spend years playing the game and not spot that one thing that could be hours of fun. The best way to use this book is to keep it hidden away from your preying eyes until the moment comes. Then when your getting bored pull it out and have a read through. I can promise you there will be something you didnt know that you can then go and do. As said before these book series' are a GTA must have. I usually pay about 13 quid for these after I get the game, but with the game I am only paying 8 quid from play.com, bonus...
First off I don't know why Placeholder's vague review of a book he hasn't read made him a top 10 book reviewer but I can say now that I actually have the book and will be reviewing it.
The book feels good quality and it handles alright. The majority of the guide focuses on the main story walk through (248 pages out of 286) and is detailed to a certain extent. The guide reads like a story. For example the majority of missions won't require you to even use the guide as it is stated what you have to do during the mission. It is more useful to use to make sure you have completed all the missions in order, and find other bonuses that get unlocked as you complete missions that are not stated in the game such as "random characters".
The last 20 odd pages focuses on Liberty city maps regarding specific sections of the city islands. This shows the location of basically everything, spread through 3 identical maps per island with each focusing on either Points of Interest, Pickups or Stunt jumps & "Flying Rats" which are hidden packages. These handle pretty easy. There are marks on the map of their locations and for the hidden packages there are also a set of pictures of their locations for each one. This is the same set-up for the other city islands.
Finally there are a list of achievements and tips on multilayer maps and not to forget mention of Police wanted levels and advice on losing the heat. These are pretty much as stated, tips and hints which are always useful to read and implement.
Overall this is a pretty standard guide. It feels good and mentions the appropriate things you need to know. You can't really go wrong for under £10, but anything more would be pushing it.
If you wish to complete GTA 100% this book is for you. It has everything you need to do so:
- Detailed walkthrough of all the missions.
- Map locations of Health and Armour.
- List and locations of all hidden weapons.
- Entertainment joints found (Bars, Shops etc.)
- All pigeons and stunt jumps found for you.
- In game knowledge of how to build relationships with different characters in the game.
There are many more useful hints and tips inside this book that make this game more enjoyable than it already is!
Overall this book is well worth the price as without it you will not complete the game 100%. But even if you don't want to complete it 100% this book is a great addition to the game of the century!!!
*if you have used cheats in the game you will not be able to complete it 100%*
This is the first strategy guide that I have ever bought for a game and certainly not the last. It has very detailed maps of weapon, health, body armour, stunt jumps and flying rats. The guide is very well set out and gives perfect explanations of how to complete the missions.
Its a definate buy and Play.com beats all highstreet store with its fantastic price.
i have to agree with a couple of the reviews already written, its not as good as the other guides that have been made. its very poor detail on what else you can do in the game but the main story walkthrough is very good.
