This is a great companion for all gamers and even the guinness afficianado the world over.
Whats not too like, there is facts, tips and hints, and more information and facts than you can shake a pub quiz at.

If you are a gaming enthusiast then you are going to love this book as it not only contains world records about games, companies and the industry as a whole (such as quickest completion times of games, biggest collection of consoles, sales information etc) it is also full of facts, figures, useful information and even some great websites (MAME website will give old arcade gamers a treat). I have been playing computer games all my life, from C64 and BBC/Electron computers to modern day high definition consoles such as PS3 and this book covers the lot.

It makes for very interesting reading and there is so much information crammed into these pages. For a start you get a tour of 2007, the most popular games, key events such as games releases and financial achievements etc. Plus it is slightly smaller than the main Guinness book so it should be able to fit in your bag so you can read it wherever (and the cover looks great too).

This is the first Guinness gaming book and so well worth getting your hands on a copy as there hasn't been anything like it before. This book not only gives you all the statistics that you could want it also provides a greater insight into the industry itself and has interviews with key people from this world. The people who made this book obviously carry the same passion as I do about this great past time/life obsession as the book is both in depth and well written and appeals to gamers giving histories of the most popular games from each genre and plenty of screen shots.

If you are serious about games then this is your bible. Buy a copy now, it will serve you well.

A interesting read for the older, mature gamer's out there!

The Gunness World Records Gamer's Edition 2008 book is the first of it's kind and, has a lot of facts and records which I found to be intriguing.
One of the records which I was surprised to see is the longest prison sentence for playing a video game. Which was some idiot playing Tetris on his mobile on a aeroplane refusing to turn it off, as he was endangering peoples lives because his mobile it could interfere with the aeroplanes navigating computer systems. He was jailed for four months I bet he wishes he turned it off now.
For the newer console systems the book tells you the top five selling games for each one. Another interesting fact for me is that for every Nintendo system which has had a Mario Kart game released, it has become the best selling racing game for that console. There are many great pieces of information on many wonderful long running game series which are as follows: Zelda, Tomb Raidier, Grand Theft Auto, Resident Evil, Metroid, Castlevania, Metal Gear, Street Fighter, Tekken, Doom, Half-Life, Halo, Super Mario, Sonic, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, World Of Warcraft, Command & Conquer and many more.
One thing that I did find a little annoying at times, is that the book will give the wrong details of the console which a game was released for. Part from that a very good book on video games which goes nicely with, the Video Games Guide by Matt Fox and Game On!: The 50 Greatest Video Games Of All Time books which I own too.

Obviously its aimed at gamers and it fits the bill perfect i loved reading it. However i think it will all so suit the people who just love to know facts. For example what a question for a pub quiz "whats the highest score ever on pac man" well to find the answer get the book. GOOD quality aswell. everything as you would expect really well worth £12 in my opion
