I have read this book twice(it's a short book) and It has opened my eyes to a number of interesting ideas about the concept of photography. Roland Barthes was not a photographer. He was a philosopher. He simply tells the reader how various photographs made an impact on him and how they may impact on others. Reading this book does encourage the reader to look closer at a photograph and is also an interesting, personal impression on the author. If your studying photography in the arts this is a must. THIS IS a translation though so It may take some patience :)
