The sequel to "Silence of the Lambs" marks the return of Dr Hannibal Lecter. One of Hannibal's victims, the influential and rich Mason Verger - a paraplegic confined to a respirator thanks to Hannibal - is bent on revenge and FBI agent Clarice Starling provides the perfect bait.

A book so bad its hard to know where to begin, I'm still not sure whether it was written as a straight thriller or a parody of Lambs. The constant lists of Lector's fussy habits and products he insists on makes him seem less a cultured aesthete and more like Frasier with anti-social dining habits. The gothic excess of a mad, disfigured millionaire who collects children's tears in a Martini glass, the problem that killer pigs are funny and some plot howlers like the way Italian police (who are either stupid or corrupt here) can play a Nintendo game on a PC but can't access its files and there's THAT ending, utterly defying logic or established character.

one of the best books you'll ever read

One of the best books you'll ever read, i couldn't put it down. It is absolutely terrifying and in my opinion, the best of the trilogy. But obviously you must read the first two before this one..... I wish I could forget it so that I could read it again, truly awesome.

IF THE ENDING WAS BETTER,FIVE STARS

Now i get it. After all these years of hearing people say it's a really good book but the end is ridiculous,i thought it's about flippin' time i read it.
I am glad i read it because for the most part it's a really thrilling read, you find yourself wondering what will happen next. I admit that now and again i got a little bored with some chapters, but a lot of the chapters are short,so i found that easy to forgive.
It truely is a compelling, brilliantly written book that i was enjoying and couldn't wait to get back to ...and then the last few chapters! WHAT?! WHAT THE HELL?! DO WHAT?
I don't get it. Why after hundreds of pages of brilliantly written, thrilling story did the author do that with the characters?
I don't want to spoil the end so i won't say exactly what happens, but it's no wonder JODIE FOSTER wanted nothing to do with the film, fearing it would go the same way as the book. It's just ridiculous,it's as if THOMAS HARRIS got bored come the end and decided to just put any ol' thing down.
This was better than SILENCE OF THE LAMBS in my opinion, but that end is just stupid and somewhat insulting to the reader, expecting them to just accept that is how the story goes. I mean, knowing the characters, why would it?
Granted,it's his book,he can do what he wants with it,but...sigh,i don't get it.
Anyone tempted to read this,i would advise do,but just prepare yourself for a bonkers ending. Heck, you might like it.
If it wasn't for this ending,i would say it is easily a five star book. Such a pity.
