Jackson, Mississippi, 1962. There's Aibileen, raising her seventeenth white child and nursing the hurt caused by her own son's tragic death; Minny, whose cooking is nearly as sassy as her tongue; and white Miss Skeeter, home from College, who wants to know why her beloved maid has disappeared.

 Fantastic book

This is in my top 5 books that i have read, it's a great read.

It may take a few pages to get used to the opening chapter and the style of writing but that is part of the charm of the book. If you struggle with it don't worry as the whole book isn't written in the same way.

The characters are all so well described you really get to know them to understand the story. It is scary to think how the era described was not so long ago. I loved the book and would highly recommend it.

I highly recommend this book, it usually takes me long time to read a book but i couldn't put this book down and read it in two days - When i finished reading the book, i went into a sort of "mourning" i felt like i missed the characters, i know it sounds crazy but that's just how brilliant this book is!

The best book i've read in a long time..

A fantastic book. Not seen the film yet, but will do now after reading the book. Very well written, thought provoking, and 'laugh out loud' funny in places. Couldn't put this one down, but didn't want it to end. A must read.
