Golding's best-known novel is the story of a group of boys who, after a plane crash, set up a fragile community on a previously uninhabited island. As memories of home recede and the blood from frenzied pig-hunts arouses them, the boys' childish fear turns into something deeper and more primitive.

 A Complete Classic

One of the best books ever written with an ending that whips you, and the characters, back to reality in the very last sentence.

The most impressive thing about this book is the fact that it is so re-readable. And for a book that takes little time to read, the impression it leaves is one that lasts a little longer than you'd like.

 Lord of the classics

Possible Golding most famous book and for good reason. Not only is it a good story for the casual reader but those who look deeper will find comparsion between the children and modern society.

A damn good read do yourself a favour and buy this book. It's a classic for a reason!

 Just Brilliant

Had to read this for G.C.S.E, such an amazing book, I have read it so many times, and haven't got bored of it; the person who's titled their comment; "why does everyone lie?" must be some kind of idiot, it's a brilliant book which the film does not do justice, I would reccoment this book to anybody, such an amazing read.

 Why does everyone lie?

Disappointment surged through me as I read the first chapter and it has been left in my cupboard since that very day. Their was a difficult to learn story line which was so unrealistic. A plane crashes on an island which is delivering some boys from a school to a country for a school trip. The boys dont even leak a tear or get worried once. How unrealitic!
