The third volume, part one of A Song of Ice and Fire, the greatest fantasy epic of the modern age. GAME OF THRONES is now a major TV series from HBO, featuring a stellar cast. Winter approaches Westeros like an angry beast. The Seven Kingdoms are divided by revolt and blood feud. In the northern wastes, a horde of hungry, savage people steeped in the dark magic of the wilderness is poised to invade the Kingdom of the North where Robb Stark wears his new-forged crown. And Robb's defences are ranged against the South, the land of the cunning and cruel Lannisters, who have his younger sisters in their power. Throughout Westeros, the war for the Iron Throne rages more fiercely than ever, but if the Wall is breached, no king will live to claim it.

This is the 3rd Book of the series ' A Song of Ice and Fire '

If you love fantasy then this series is what you should own. It is not a copy of Tolkien, as there are no Elves or Dwarves etc. It is still fantasy though with Dragons and other mythical beasts, but largely the land is a Medieval human struggle between waring parties.

A Storm of Swords is split into 2 parts because it was so large to publish as one. Having said that, it reads very well on its own, and the endings are just awesome.

 Great read.

This was a truly fantastic read, granted its only the 1st book of the story and so just the prelude to what I hope will be a great 2nd part. Such a lot going on and so you've really got to read every chance you get so that you don't get lost with the storyline.

I'm sure the TV series is different slightly to the book but having just watch the first two seasons on TV, I wanted to get the full Game of Thrones experience before I watched season 3. This was exactly what I was hoping for a page turner of a book and despite its length I enjoyed the book.

The title says it all, masterful

This epic gets stronger and stronger with each addition, George RR takes what has gone before in his series and expands the stories of all who we have read about before, All the Stark children's struggles and also of the Lannisters, some other faces appear but it is mainly these and Daenerys that have the strongest storylines, sometimes it's hard to keep pace with all the characters but it does not change the fact that this series is the best i've read in many a long year, brilliant gritty drama in a slice of fantasy cake, delicious

Game of Thrones, best sci-fi since LOTR or maybe better??

First of all, I started reading the game of thrones books late, in Septermber 2012 and really, these books took over how much time I have left in my life. They are really hooking and intriguing to read.

Storm of Swords part 1, continues the stories of the mayor characters from the previous books, like Robb or Catelyn. There is one more character joined in to this book but i wont spoil. This book is more of recover and start a new war book. After the battles in the second book, people in Westeros recover and make new realtionships (and once agains George R.R. Martin give you twist you may not like at all). The Troubled King in the North and Jon Snow beyond the Wall are both really interesting and fun to read.
Im kind of sad to say that in this book there is not much fighting, it is really same as the first book which is not bad at all.

Anyway just to say something, if you watch the Game of Thrones Series 2, then you may spoil the first 100-150 pages of this book really.

Im a great fan of this series, keep up the great work George!!

Still can't put these book down

By the time a third novel comes around from an author, they are all but ready to run out of ideas and give up on creativity. But this is just another book that hooks you in and demands your full attention and nothing less. All fantasy fans must own this series.
