 Beauty in a book...

I have never read anything as captivating as this book. The way its written, the way it makes you visualise every single scene so vividly is so special and so unique that i try and read it at least once a year.

I have bought copies for a number of friends- one writing me the most beautiful letter while she was in India and seeing some of the sights first hand. The best thing is that this is a book that once you've read it and you meet someone else who has, you cant help but talk about it- it makes you think and question alot.

I cannot rate a book more highly. The man is a total legend

 Totally Absorbing

My 25yr old son recommended this book to me, saying he'd been so absorbed by it, that he'd missed his stop on bus journeys and now he is desperate to go to India. I was somewhat daunted at first by the 930 pages, but plunged in and now I can't stop telling everyone what a brilliant book I'm reading (and usually I have the attention span of a gnat when reading!).
I watched a clip of "Lin" on You Tube and I now hear his voice talking to me as I'm reading - he has a fab voice - and that has given the book even more intimacy.
It is so utterly enjoyable - unquestionably the best book I have ever read in my life. The adventures, the style of writing, the pace - it's all thrilling! You really feel like you're living this life with the author.

This is truly a magnificent tale. Although it's long, Gregory David Roberts barely wastes a word (although he sometimes stretches his metaphors a bit far!) and the characters will stay with you long after you finish. A book to make you laugh, cry and think - it may even make you want to move to the slums of Bombay!

I brought this book about 2 years ago and can't believe it took me all this time to pick it up and read it. What a fool. I could not put it down it captured me from start to finish. This is a must read for anyone who loves to read. I feel they should make this into a film, it would be an instant hit.
