Fact: I was so hooked on this book that I read the entire thing in a day.

When Kate Fitzgerald is diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Kate's parents are devastated and decide to produce another child called Anna, from whom they extract essential elements in order to keep Kate living just that little bit longer. However, when Anna reaches 13, she decides to sue her parents for never giving her a choice in her donations. Her mother is shocked and cannot believe what she is doing - her father realises he understands. It is a crucial time for Kate, who desperately needs a kidney from Anna and so not only does the court's decision depend on her rights in life, it also depends ON Kate's life.

Fabulous book, well written, completely tragic but strangely uplifting. Recommend. Haven't seen film but shall make a point to do so now.

First book ive read of Jodi Picoult and I have to say it was brilliant!! Ive seen the film also and it does not compare to the book, the book is 100 times better. Even if you have seen the film I recommend you read this book as there is alot of the book that is different to the film.
