Zombies in North London, death cults in the West Country, the engineering deck of the Enterprise: Simon Pegg has been ploughing some bizarre furrows in recent times. Having blasted onto the small screens with his now legendary sitcom "Spaced", his rise to nation's favourite son status has been mercurial, meteoric, megatronnic, but mostly just plain great. From his childhood (and subsequently adult) obsession with Star Wars, his often passionate friendship with Nick Frost, and his forays into stand-up which began with his regular Monday morning slot in front of his 12-year-old classmates, this is a joyous tale of a homegrown superstar and a local boy made good.

I've always been a fan of Mr Pegg, having being born and grew up for most of my young life in Bristol, i even worked in Debenhams Bristol where Mr Pegg worked within Menswear for a small amount of time. I remember looking up to how this 'nerd' made it in Hollywood having starred in many great movies and even hitting the jackpot with Mission Impossible, he is filming the latest 4th film in the series currently i found out. The book is detailed but also keeps you going on the ride with him, it thankfully doesn't stop much and most of the boring parts are made more interesting with his writing. I was surprised but i think all film fans and even Simon Pegg fans will love this book for Christmas, i read it on my week off work and it was very enjoyable. A must read.

 Enjoyable and Funny

I got this book at Christmas and I really enjoyed reading it. Pegg states that he isn't going to go into much detail about his Private life as he feels it should remain Private. I can say I quite agree and he does go into parts of his in candid detail. There is a sub story within the book which is highly entertaining if not too short. Having watched Pegg in Shaun of the Dead, Hott Fuzz and Star Trek I really enjoyed his book and it has got me watching Spaced which is really good.

If you are wanting a good light read I recommend this book

Top 100 Books Reviewer

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure that a Simon Pegg autobiography was totally necesssary, as his youth is pretty run of the mill (at least, as it is written). It is however very funny, he comes across as an amiable chap and his writing style appeals to me. Things worthy of mention are the adventures of Pegg and Cantebury, which intersperse the odd chapter or two, and his suggested scene for the end of Revenge of the Sith. Will appeal to movie and comedy buffs alike.

 A Good Read!

I bought this book after reading and very much enjoying boigraphies from other actors/comedians, and having always been a big fan of Spaced, Shaun of the Dead & Hot Fuzz.
The book is funny and very interesting, with good use of language which keeps you drawn in, and the short chapters means it doesn't get boring. I especially liked the sub-story he has written with himself as a superhero! Very amusing!
I also really liked his in-depth summaries of the Star Wars franchise and the sub-context of zombie films.
For me the only thing which bought the book down was the fact that he hardly talks about all the things which I feel a lot of his fa\ns would buy the book for. He spends the first 3 quarters of the book talking about his childhood and education in a very in-depth way, which, although funny in places, leaves little room to talk about the above mentioned show/movies, which are mainly what I wanted to hear about.
Overall I would say it is a very good read for any Pegg fans, or indeed general sci-fi fans out there, his sense of humour and writing technique will keep you glued to the book from start to finish. Just don't be like me and naively expect it to be largely about the film and television process!!
8/10.
