Discover Michael McIntyre's hilarious life-story in "Life and Laughing". Michael McIntyre is Britain's biggest comedy star. He has released two record-breaking DVDs, "Live and Laughing" and "Hello Wembley"; hosts his own BAFTA-nominated BBC1 series, "Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow"; and has picked up British Comedy Awards for Best Live Stand-Up and Best Male TV Comic. Last year he became the youngest ever host of the Royal Variety Performance, and now in 2011 he takes the hot seat as a judge in the hit ITV show "Britain's Got Talent". How did he get there? Michael reveals all in his remarkably honest and hilarious autobiography. His showbiz roots, his appalling attempts to attract the opposite sex, his fish-out-of-water move from public to state school and his astonishing journey from selling just one ticket at the Edinburgh Festival to selling half a million tickets on his last tour. Michael McIntyre's "Life and Laughing" is riveting, poignant, romantic and above all very, very funny. Michael McIntyre was born in South London in 1976 to parents from the world of showbiz. His Hungarian mother was a dancer and his Canadian father co-wrote "The Kenny Everett Television Show".Now he is a stand-up comedian who in 2009 sold out a record six nights at Wembley Arena and four nights at London's O2. Michael lives in North London with his wife Kitty and their sons Lucas and Oscar. This is his first book.

Oh my god what a book!! I am abig fan of this man so was intirgued as to what his book would be like. It does not disapoint. It is a true feel good read. Full of hilarious laugh out loud parts, yet also tinged with some bits of sadness. It is an honest book detailing his rise through the industry to be the star he is now.

I would definately recomend this book, would make a great holiday read.

 A Good Read

If you like Michaels quick witted delivery of his stand up then you'll enjoy his book.
From the start as you begin to read it you feel as if you're listenening to him tell his life story.
There's nothing in the book that'll be a huge revelation to you (Unless you've never seen him on TV etc) but nevertheless a good read.

Michael McIntyre is such a legend! This book is so funny throughout and it's almost as if he is reading it to you, you can totally imagine him doing and saying all of the ridiculous stories and anecdotes he describes. From his disasterous dating record, college and university fun, his wife, his children, everything is covered right up until his royal variety performance. Immaculately written (on his new 27 inch iMac), this book will have you in stitches as well as tears with his heart-warming truth and honestly. I read this on holiday and found it a great summer read, although it did not take long as I could not put it down!! The only thing I found, as someone born in the '90s, I did not know most of the people/films/tv shows he was referencing! There seemed to be a lot of this as well, and so I did not get a few of the gags, but I still found it thoroughly entertaining and an incredibly enjoyable read. If you're a McIntyre fan, I would 100% recommend buying this book, you'll love it. So looking forward to his 2012 tour!!

It's worth a read - especially toward the end

I am a massive MM fan - have all the DVD's, seen him live, etc. My sister bought me the book for Christmas, knowing this fact. It took me a while to get in to the book, but I was determined to get through it. The blurb had described it as "hilarious and "laugh out loud". It's not. There are a few amusing bits, and in the 384 pages I laughed out loud about 4 times. I smiled a few dozen. I feel it was trying to be funny too much, or maybe just that his comedy is better as a stand up.

However, it was really interesting. As a working class person from a poor city, the life of someone who has been surrounded by fame - written in a manner that any Tom, Dick & Harry can relate to - was really insightful, and kind of nice to read. It was also very heartwarming toward the end of the book, as he explained how difficult it had been to get in to stand up comedy on a wider circuit. Even though we know he is a fantastic comedian - the Nation's Sweetheart - you still kind of get hooked on the "will he do OK or not??" element.

The blurb built the book up a bit too much. If you want a book that will make you laugh your head off every time you turn the page, look elsewhere. If you want an amusing book, written in a really relateable manner that will show you that even someone who makes his job look like one he was begged in to rather than the other way round, this is definitely worth a read...
