From the world's most controversial rock star comes his shocking, confessional, and revealing life story. The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell, Marilyn Manson candidly and vividly recounts his metamorphosis from a frightened Christian schoolboy into the most feared and revered celebrity in America. His shocking and controversial life story includes the bizarre characters that populated his childhood, from his cross-dressing grandfather and sexually abusive neighbour to the satanism-obsessed schoolteacher who all had an enormous effect on him in his early life. From backstage to jail cells, from recording studios to emergency rooms, The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell chronicles Manson's rise to fame. His story is illustrated with dozens of previously unpublished photographs, and it features a behind-the-scenes account of his headline-grabbing Dead To The World Tour - vilified, banned and protested by politicians, preachers, and parents alike.

In 1997 we saw Marilyn Manson, both the goth-metal collective and its outspoken frontman, step out from the shadow of mentor, Trent Reznor, and ride a wave of public outcry and protest to chart success. While moralists and civic leaders across the world tried to stop his anti-Christianity rhetoric and antics, Manson's parade continued its defiant march through the late '90s to the present day, when lead singer Marilyn Manson has become one of the most intriguing cult figures of the millennial age. And as this book reveals, Manson is someone who has experienced more than most people have, or would want to, in a lifetime.

I never realised how amazing MM was before reading this book! it's made me see him in a different light, and i absolute adore him now! That bit about what him and his cousin found in the grandads basement really made me gag, but apart from that, its a must read! x

This is the only book that i've been able to read over and over. Its really hard to put down. If you're a manson fan you'll definatly enjoy reading this. It has been written really well by manson himself and neil strauss. If you're after a book about marilyn manson this is the one to get, don't waste your money on unofficial autobiographys.
