If like me youre a fan of all things dawn french, then this book will give you an insight into the lesser known dawn french and thats of a deeply emotional person who knows how to be as happy as she can even when theres been some very diifcult times, this book will have you laughing, crying, and laughing some more
A definite must read definetely worth those five stars !!!!!!
The Best in years. I laughed, I cried, and I found my newest BFF!
.......not great. What I don't like about this book is that it is just a series of letters from Dawn French to friends and family talking about the past. I know that a biography basically is that, but presented in this way does mean that it gets very tedious and after a couple of hundred pages you may find yourself wanting the book to end as I did. I am not saying it is a bad book, there are some funny and touching moments in it, however you don't really feel in touch with the author as you do with other biographies. I was also surprised that she didn't talk more about things like Vicar of Dibley. Personally I would have liked to hear about the other cast members, what went on, what they thought of each other, the fun etc. It was hardly mentioned which for me was disappointing as I am a big fan. As I have said this is not a bad book and it does give you an insight into her life but I can't help feeling that it could have been so much better and made much more appealing to the reader had it not just been page after page of letters to people.
I bought this book for myself and have read it in no time because it is so fantastically funny. One tip do not read this book whilst on public transport as you will make a fool of yourself. It will have you laughing out loud - people will stare!! It is worth it though as it is such a good book. Amazing insight into her life and the challenges she must face in the public eye. Raw at times, truthful and very humerous in a typical dawn french way. I would highly recommend this book. A joy to read.
Bought this for my mum for xmas. But ive had a nose and its so touching and funny. Im definately stealing this off her hah :]
