In SCAR TISSUE Anthony Kiedis, charismatic and highly articulate frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, recounts his remarkable life story, and the history of the band itself. Raised in the Midwest, he moved to LA aged eleven to live with his father Blackie, purveyor of pills, pot, and cocaine to the Hollywood elite. After a brief child-acting career, Kiedis dropped out of U.C.L.A. and plunged headfirst into the demimonde of the L.A. underground music scene. He formed the band with three schoolfriends - and found his life's purpose. Crisscrossing the country, the Chili Peppers were musical innovators and influenced a whole generation of musicians.

But there's a price to pay for both success and excess and in SCAR TISSUE, Kiedis writes candidly of the overdose death of his soul mate and band mate, Hillel Slovak, and his own ongoing struggle with an addiction to drugs. SCAR TISSUE far transcends the typical rock biography, because Anthony Kiedis is anything but a typical rock star. It is instead a compelling story of dedication and debauchery, of intrigue and integrity, of recklessness and redemption.

Drugs in the left hand, girls on the right! Anthony was pretty lucky! it is a good book to get to know Anthony, but literally, it is not as good as his lyrics!

A rollercoaster ride about one mans crazy life.

This book is so interesting and deep, it covers anthony's and the rest of the band's life up until just before "by the way" album came out and i love it, its a must for the true rhcp fan's!

 Truely mesmerising

| | See all DLE1232003's reviews (9)

This book does not tell a story of a person with a dream, that then did everything to fund that dream, and then become part of one of the worlds most reconised band, this is a gritty life lust story about a drug dealers son, who fought demons throughout his life, escaped death on more than one occassion, and ultimately pushed away everyone he knew.

This is a story about loneliness

It is also a story about friendship, the up and the downs,
About family

From the first page, this compelling account of kiedis's life imerresses you into his childhood years, and takes you through a truelly rollercoaster lifestyle,

If this was to be made into a film, it would certainly be banned from many countries screens, for the detailed honnesty it portrays

He does not make this book all fancy and loving, so the fans think he is the greatest man alive

He tells his fans and all other readers the truth, he doesnt sugar coat any of his words, nor does he try to seek redemption from what he rights, or make excuses for the wrongs

This is one of the best books i have come accross in my life time, i recommend anyone and everyone to read the first chapter of this book, and not put it down, whether you are a fan of his music, or completely disinterested, this book is a real story and a real eye opener.
