The third volume, part two of A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, the greatest fantasy epic of the modern age. GAME OF THRONES is now a major TV series from HBO, featuring a stellar cast. The Starks are scattered. Robb Stark may be King in the North, but he must bend to the will of the old tyrant Walder Frey if he is to hold his crown. And while his youngest sister, Arya, has escaped the clutches of the depraved Cersei Lannister and her son, the capricious boy-king Joffrey, Sansa Stark remains their captive. Meanwhile, across the ocean, Daenerys Stormborn, the last heir of the Dragon King, delivers death to the slave-trading cities of Astapor and Yunkai as she approaches Westeros with vengeance in her heart.

This is the 4th book in the series 'A Song of Ice and Fire' which is based on a mythical fantasy land similar to that of Tolkien's Middle Earth. George R R Martin doubles the scale of Tolkien with a story so full of twists, blood and gold that you will be shocked, almost crying for characters you believed to become heroes, yet Martin is so far from cliche, no one and nowhere is safe.

The character development is cleverly interwoven into a central story of battle and glory for the seven kingdoms. Just when you think you can see where Martin is going with the story, it changes and at times dramatically with such literacy style that it brings intense emotion to read.

I cannot recommend this book enough. IMO this is better than The Lord Of The Rings. The scale, the characters, the twists and brilliant pace and style of writing.

George R R Martin is literary genius.

 The best

For me, this (part 2 of the third novel in the series) is the strongest bar none. No author has ever thrown in such twists and turns and kept the reader so astounded as GRRM. This book will blow you away, it's brilliant.

 Fantastic

Amazing book, it is a fantastic reading (the other books from a Song of Ice and Fire are great too). Still the author keeps you in suspense at the end of each chapter, waiting for more. Great plots and twists.

Part 2, best so far with dramatics at an all time high

The plot twists in this have to be seen to be believed, their are several in this book with one being one of the all time best i have ever read, no-one is safe should be the title of this series, compelling drama where the characters are always developing and suprising you with their ability's or flaws, simply outstanding
