Top 100 Books Reviewer

It all cranks up a notch in this the second novel in the first law series, Bayaz leads his group ever further from home in search of an ancient secret, so secret no one seems to know where it is, even Bayaz, the northmen have attacked Angland and its down to the most incompetent, ill trained and worst commanded army on the face of the earth to push them back, led by the fop Crown Prince they have no chance, surely, lastly every ones favourite inquisitor Glokta has been sent to the last line of defence against the Gurkish army, but he not only has to face them but also the most corrupt and spineless inhabitants of the union whilst trying to save his own skin, each storyline is strong in its own right, each complementing one another with action, character arcs and black humour, the strongest of the series and one of the best novels released in fantasy in a long time..
