The fourth book in Robert Jordan's internationally bestselling epic fantasy series, THE WHEEL OF TIME, now reissued with a stunning new cover design. The Stone of Tear, invulnerable fortress of legend, has fallen. The Children of the Dragon have risen to the call of prophecy and march to the aid of the Light. Callandor, the Sword That Is Not a Sword, is held by Rand al' Thor, the man proclaimed as the Dragon Reborn. But still the shadows lengthen and still the Forsaken grow in strength. If he is to fight them, Rand must master the male half of the True Source, a power corrupted by the Dark One, a power that drives men to madness, a power that may save or damn the world.  Another Fantastic Wheel of Time Book

| | See all Charlie2094's reviews (5)

The Wheel of Time turns and with its turning comes yet another fantastic book. The book took me a couple weeks to plough through; not because it's not good - because it's fantastic - but because it's huge. I started reading the wheel of time in october 2009 and am currently on book 8. Each book is superbly written and is filled with great characters - Mat being my favourite - and each one adds more depth to the extraordinary world Jordans created. The only reasons this book is so long is because of how much details Jordan uses to describe the landscapes, rooms, characters. This book is my second favourite in the series, my favourite being book 6 which has my favourite scene - Dumais Wells. Be warned though. Before starting this book, ask yourself if you can give months to reading this series. It's worth it, but some people may not be able to make it through the whole series - read this book and you'll want too.

Through the filler, there is a plot brewing !

Top 100 Books Reviewer

It took me an age to get through this book, not because it was'nt interesting, just the fact it's so huge, over a thousand pages, yikes, at this stage in the series, Robert Jordan does start to go off track sometimes but the main plot threads do still get seen to (i.e the 3 Ta'veren, Aes Sedai), no enemies in the form of the Forsaken appear initially in this book, as Rand has decided to take a detour from the planned campaign (As Moiraine sees it) to try to follow the prophecies of the dragon and gain acceptance of the Aiel, whilst Rand travels to do this with Mat in tow Perrin travels back to protect the 3 rivers from attack on many sides, both plots take their time in getting there but have highly dramatic endings, Perrin's in an awesome battle and Rand in a more personal battle and revelation which carries weight into the next couple of books (let's just say their's some unrevealing to do at the very end), not the best of the series but as in the second book, builds for the next couple, keep reading as it's about to kick off
