The perfect killer has no friends. Only targets. For Durzo Blint, assassination is an art. And he is the city's most accomplished artist, his talents required from alleyway to courtly boudoir. For Azoth, survival is precarious. Something you never take for granted. As a guild rat, he's grown up in the slums, and learned the hard way to judge people quickly - and to take risks. Risks like apprenticing himself to Durzo Blint. But to be accepted, Azoth must turn his back on his old life and embrace a new identity and name. As Kylar Stern, he must learn to navigate the assassins' world of dangerous politics and strange magics - and cultivate a flair for death.

The greatest read of my life.

The Way of Shadows and its brothers Shadow's Edge and Beyond the Shadows are the greatest books I have so far read. I literally couldn't put it down, I sat down with this book for a ten minute read and was still there, gripped, an hour later. Brent Weeks knows how to capture his audience from the beginning and leads you through twists and turns in he story that you'll never see coming.
Well worth the read.

Halfway through and I'll leave it there...

This book is just too poor... Weeks is trying to be inventive and how he fails... I read half of the book, and I'm not going to read the rest. Sure: He has some interesting ideas (hence the second star) but the dialogue and plot is too unimaginative and far fetched... But I'm glad the rest of you enjoyed it...

 Best book in ages!

If you are looking for something new to read this is by the far the best book i have read in a long long long time. I could not put the books down, and the second and third only add to making this debut trilogy unbelievable.

This was a very good book, read it in a week, the plot was amazing with a few predictable twists but non the less very good it left me desprate for more as it doesnt realy have an ending it just stops leaveing ten thousand questions in your head.
I really lved this authers way of writing it was very good and unusual.

This book is not for children under 16!

As it has sexually explisit content and language :) which is why it got 5*

I nicked this book off of my friend and my uni work has been affected by it. Hardly put it down, a very interesting read with a great plot.
It's a fantasy but you can almost imagine the storyline taking place within Jerusalem during the Crusades.
A great book, with fascinating characters and an amazing plot - a must read!
