Sarah Forsyth has spent most of her life in fear. Born in Newcastle in 1976, from the age of three, the very people who were meant to be looking after and protecting her were sexually abusing her. Somehow overcoming the hurt and heartbreak of this horrific childhood, Sarah managed to build a new and happy life for herself as a nursery nurse. Then, one day, Sarah spotted a newspaper advert for a job in a creche in Amsterdam. Thrilled by the prospect of a fresh start away from Newcastle and all the memories it held, she eagerly signed up. But within minutes of stepping off the plan in Amsterdam her life began to fall apart. There was no creche and no job: Sarah was a victim of sex-trafficking. That night, a just twenty-one years of age, her life - her real life, her life as Sarah Forsyth - ended. Fed cocaine and cannabis, and forced at gunpoint to work as a prostitute in the Red Light District of Amsterdam, Sarah was turned from a young innocent English girl into a desperate and terrified crack whore. Riddled with fear about what her pimps would do to her if they caught her trying to run away, it took Sarah almost a year to find the strength to fight back and escape. But, unlike many of the girls that she was forced to live and work beside, she did get away. Sarah Forsyth is a survivor. This is her heart-rending story.

Gripping and horrifying at the same time!

I began this book yesterday and finished it yesterday. I couldn't put it down. It was terrifying to think that there are people capable of such evils out in the world. I have visited the red light district in the past and went to see the women in the windows.. little did I know that most of these women are being forced into this life by organised gangs, beaten everyday and fed very little. The worse bits were what happened to these women in the "warehouses" where they were tortured or killed on live camera and the footage sold for the pleasures of men ... shocking!
I have found it very hard to sleep tonight thinking about it all but it has really opened my eyes... I highly reccomend it.

 A must read!!!!

Like other reviews I read this in less than a week because it was so compelling. Sarah writes in a way that is really easy to follow, honest, at times brutal but fascinating nonetheless. Having been to Amsterdam on a break I now see the whole experience in a completely different light, has really opened my eyes to what those poor girls are really going through. You won't regret reading this one!

I read this book in one night as soon as I began to read this womans story I could not put the book down. I had to find out what happend next in this womans shockingly sad life,I justhad to know, did she make it out the other end,a real gripping story of how bad things happen to good people and that the world is full of horrors and sickos :(
I hope Sarah is having a better life these days...what a brave woman!
