SOON THE FIRST SNOW WILL COME. A young boy wakes to find his mother missing. Their house is empty but outside in the garden he sees his mother's favourite scarf - wrapped around the neck of a snowman. AND THEN HE WILL APPEAR AGAIN. As Harry Hole and his team begin their investigation they discover that an alarming number of wives and mothers have gone missing over the years. AND WHEN THE SNOW IS GONE...When a second woman disappears it seems that Harry's worst suspicions are confirmed: for the first time in his career Harry finds himself confronted with a serial killer operating on his home turf...HE WILL HAVE TAKEN SOMEONE ELSE.

One of the best detectives - ever

I have now read all of the Harry Hole books that have been issued as paperbacks. It is important that new readers read the books in the order they were written as events that occur in the early books have impacts on tthe later books. The main character is like a Norwegian Harry Bosch. The story lines are complex and convoluted with twists coming fast and furious. Simply put - read these books.

 Fantastc book excellent author

I brought the snowman last week and I am hopelessly hooked, with a fast moving, compelling plot I am loving this book. Wanting to know what happens next but not wanting the story to end!!!! With More twists and turns than a rolercoaster Nesbo is a genius at keeping the reader hooked.
I wil never see a snowman in quite the same light!! credit where credit is due.

 Good apart from first chapter!

I ordered this book having enjoyed Stieg Larsson and Mankell. I was extremely disappointed by the first chapter and almost gave up. I believe the problem might have been in the translation - the sex scene was cringy in the extreme! However the rest of the book felt like it had been written by a different person and was well written and exciting! Advise sticking with it past the first chapter!

 Thrilling!

Top 100 Books Reviewer

I read Jo nesbo's "The Snowman" after seeing that he was being compared to Stieg larson, whose books I loved.

I have to say I was quite impressed, I can certainly see why he has been compared to Stieg. The plot was fast moving, with plenty of twists, I did guess who the snowman was, but this didn't take away from my enjoyment.

Crying out to be a film, very good and well worth a read!

 Excellent!

Jo Nesbo is the next Stieg Larsson! Great book, enjoyed it immensely! Highly recommended!
