It was the children who saw - and felt - what made the town so horribly different. In the storm drains and sewers 'It' lurked, taking the shape of every nightmare, each one's deepest dread. As the children grow up and move away, the horror of 'It' is buried deep - until they are called back.

 One of the best, definitely

Although this is incredibly long and a bit padded out in places, It is an amazing story Stephen King should be proud of. The characters are well drawn, it is realistic, and the horror works wonderfully. Recommended.

 Kings best

This is a must read book. The book is very long but is defintly worth the effort, in my opinon its Kings best book. Do not be put off if you have seen the film version and did not enjoy it, as the book has alot more story in it than the movie. The book is a scary read, yet is also funny and moving. The charcters are great, and even though its a big book, you'll see yourself flying through it.

a masterpiece - stand by me with a killer clown

| | See all nelsonlee's reviews (3)

IT is truly one of the best books ever written. I have read this over 15 times and still never get bored. The plot is amazing and the movement between the children's timezone and the adults timezone is smooth and a delight to follow. Yes it has it's scares but the main attraction of this film is the excellent characters and the journey the kids go on that one summer. Like Stand by me but with a killer clown chasing them!

 Very Deep, Very Good

It's quite a long winded book, but as a result, you feel you know everything about the characters, such is the depth to which they are explained. I loved the film but after reading the book, you realise just how much is missing from the film. Some parts are a bit difficult to read (at least for me) and are quite uncomfortable in thier nature. They dont stop it from being a 5* rating though, or an outstanding book.
