This is not a comfortable reading. It's the real life story of an abused and neglected girl. You experience everything she goes through, especially her mother's shocking abuse. If you want a book that is for entertainment then you probably shouldn't buy this.

  Compelling and Triumphant

This book takes you into the life of little Constance 'Clare' Briscoe and tells the story of how she was severely mistreated by her mother and 'stepfather' and how she managed to escape that life and become a strong independant woman! She takes you on a jurney of what life was like for her and you feel for her as she tells you how she coped with years of abuse and how she overcome and fought her demons - and her mother!

Well Done Constance...I will definately be reading the sequel 'Beyond Ugly', when it is released early next year!

  Heart Wrenching

Constance whose name was stolen from her is a credit to herself. This true story of a loveless childhood is heart wrenching, the day to day life that 'Clare' had to live was appalling. However, this amazing book shows that her nasty mother did not beat her, instead made this amazing woman stronger. Following her along her journey makes you realise how lucky you are and makes you want to help push her forward when she is in moments of doubt. I could not put this book down. This woman is amazing to have survived. I will be buying her sequel as soon as it comes out because i can't wait to find out what happened to this strong willed, intelligent young woman, who unfortunately had to suffer through a consistent fight in order to survive.

This book you should read it tells the story of clare a young girl that is so badly treated by her mother, and who is so cruel to her, but clare overcomes this and gets on with her life and survives the cruel jibes torments and beatingsthat she gets, can't believe how a mother can be so cruel to child of their own.
Can't wait until the follow up book comes out in July, to find out the rest of clares story.
