absolutely brilliant. read it in three days, couldn't put it down. up to Marian's usual standard, she is just amazing!!!
I am a massive fan of Marian Keyes and was so excited getting this book, and i am extremely happy to say that I found it to be the best yet! This book is an enthralling mixture of romance, mystery and heartache that will keep you hooked till the end. I love how all the character's stories interlink to make one enchanting read and now all I want to do is live at 66 Star Street so I can be part of the magic!
This is the first book I have read of Marian Keyes and I was gripped. After the first couple of chapters I was having my doubts but then all of a sudden I was whisked away to 66 Star Street and it's felt like I've been living there!
I felt connected to all the characters and I actually miss them now the books over!
Am now ordering watermelon and am going to work my way through her collection
Wonderful!!
Another great story... finished it on Sunday (after 3 days, and that was with a busy toddler!!). I've found myself thinking of the characters ever since - felt like they were real people. All turned out well in the end, but after much heartache and comeuppance!!! Love it - can't wait for the next one - might just reread the others again!!
This is the first book I have read by Marian Keyes and on the strenght of it I will certainly be reading her others! From the moment I started reading it and realised it was a story being told by a ghost that drifts from flat-to-flat, I knew it was the book for me. Her characters are quirky, loveable, and three-dimentional. You end up caring about all of them.....Brilliant!
At first I was a bit worried about what was going on but as it was recommended by a friend I kept on reading the next few chapters.
Just as I was told I was hooked a few chapters in! Was a fantastic read. Marian Keyes never fails.
Couldn't put it down! Brilliant!
This book was a slow starter but as I normally love Marian Keyes (except for This Charming Man-the magic just wasn't there) I was a little tentative. Still her sparkling wit and astute way of drawing you into the characters shone through.
I loved that it didn't just centre around one person, there were couples, on and off couples, unlikey situations, the usual fun but also that wonder when realisation and dawning hit when you figure something out just before it's revealed.
You begin to care what happens to everyone. There are some happy endings and unusual ones and the climaxes towards the end come thick and fast.
Stick with it-slow runner comes good in the end.
I really enjoyed this book but it took me a while to get into. However it was worth it as the last half was amazing and did make me cry a couple of times! Recommended
Having read most of Marian Keyes books I found this one was lacking her usual sparkle and humourous character descriptions and couldn't help finding the dog a bit far fetched. It was still an enjoyable read, just not as good as some of her previous books.
