Firstly, I have to agree with the statement below. I started reading this book one afternoon and did not stop until I'd finished. It was addictive in a morbidly fascinating matter due to the fact it was so gruesome, although not crudely so.

When Alex Cross is called to one of the most horrifying crime scenes he has ever had the misfortune to be called to, he recognises one of the victims - an old flame and possibly his first love. With alot of old memories dragged up, Alex feels even more of a need to go to any lengths to solve this case, even if it means continuing his detective work in one of the most dangerous and volatile countries in the world.

This book will leave you shocked to your core. It talks of ways of hurting others that you would never even dream of, but not in a crude, obscene way. At sevel points throughout the book you could not think anything could get worse but then it does. However, it is not all gore. With many devastating moments and heart-breaking losses, Alex Cross embarks on probably his most dangerous mission yet - and we are dragged along with him for the ride.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars unbeatable
