When movie star Jack Black ("School of Rock", "King Kong") and his musical compadre Kyle Gass get together, they are better known to their legions of fans as the 'acoustic metal' band Tenacious D. After a hit TV series, a smash album and sell-out tours, the hilarious, hard rockin' duo have now got their very own movie: "Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny!" This, the only tie-in book to the film, is the fully illustrated guide to 'The D', as told by the band themselves. How did they get together? How did they learn to rock so very hard? What is the strange history of the guitar pick that came from Hell itself...and where does Sasquatch fit in? Packed with photos, script extracts and bonus features, this book will rock your very soul.

Top 100 Gadgets Reviewer

Ok, unlike the previous review of the item, im actually going to talk about the item, not the movie the item is based upon!

This book is based upon the Tenacious D: The Pick Of Destiny movie. The book is very readable whilst watching the movie, eg. the moment JB first encounters KG on the beach, turn to the book to find out that this is true! it has small nuggets of golden information about every plot point in the movie, as well as comments by both JB and KG, and director Liam Lynch throughout. There is also information about how the scenes and songs came into existance, wither from actual events or whacked out dope sessions, this is the ultimate actor and director commentary for the movie. better than the actual audio commentary on the movie DVD, as it gives more info and has a lot more laughs.

There are virtual layers to this book,
1) Read the book along with the movie for a more in-depth commentary on it;
2) Read it again for an interview with both JB and KG, then with Liam Lynch;
3) Read again for more info on the songs and movie moment ideas!!!

Litterally, this book can be read over and over again and read diffrently every time.

 The Pick Of Destiny?

Comedy genuis Jack Black has dazzled people with his hilarious comedy roles, but when playing himself in The Pick Of Destiny, he doesnt really give the laugh a second performance you would expect.

Whilst still a pretty darn side splitting comedy, full of wisecracks, parodies and gags, i couldnt help thinking that it was a bit of a dissapointment. From both the wishy-washy storyline to the bad quality and animation, this tenacious movie doesnt really seem to be the work of legend, Jack Black.

Having said this i was still laughing all the way through so if u want a comedy, nothing else, then seriously buy this movie.
