If you think your family relationships are complicated, think again: you haven't seen anything like the ones in Bon Temps, Louisiana. Sookie Stackhouse is dealing with a whole host of family problems, ranging from her own kin (a non-human fairy and a telepathic second cousin) demanding a place in her life, to her lover Eric's vampire sire, an ancient being, who arrives with Eric's 'brother' in tow at a most inopportune moment. And Sookie's tracking down a distant relation of her ailing neighbour (and ex), Vampire Bill Compton. In addition to the multitude of family issues complicating her life, the werewolf pack of Shreveport has asked Sookie for a special favour, and since Sookie is an obliging young woman, she agrees. But this favour for the wolves has dire results for Sookie, who is still recovering from the trauma of her abduction during the Fairy War.

I loved all of the books up to this one. Usually I would reread them as soon as I finished them ! However in this case, I've left this one gathering dust. What a pity. Nothing really seems to happen in it, there's no quality romance between Eric and Sookie and is it just me or is Sookie becoming a bit of an unpleasant character ?? I'm hoping this is just a blip from an author under too much pressure from the publisher. I love all the characters and I've loved all the plots up until this book. Really hoping things get back on page turning track with the next one !

I thought this book was amazing, even after reading many a bad review i still ploughed into the book with great enthusiasm and i wasn't disappointed! I love the storyline of Eric's maker and brother, and the outcome was so good i was on the edge of my seat. The chapter based around Hunter was also enthralling! and the relationship between him and Claude was really touching. It was also cool to read about Sookie and Hunter and how they tackled his "problem". This book is well worth the read, even if you aren't that sure at first you will love it!!

I absolutely love the series of books, and I'm sure like the other fans i've been waiting for this book to come out. I absolutley loved the book! Its a book you can get lost in and I could not put this book down, I read it night after night and never got bored. I'd totally recommend this book to a friend, as long as they have read the others!
Great Book!

Completely disgree with those reviews that said its not as good as the others, i like the fact that there was a slow steady story running in the background because you get to see how sookie is coping with the aftermath of the fae war and how the relationship between sookie and eric has developed. You get to see a completely different side of eric and i found it very endearing the love that he shows toward sookie. i do agree that anyone wanting to read these books should start at the beginning and also read the short stories. a thoroughly enjoyable read

 excellent read.....

wow..another great book to add to the rest of the true blood series.before i start i would say if you have not read any of the true blood books please dont start with this one [not that it isnt good,it is great but the other 9 are soo good read them first .then you will know all the characters etc..].this book continues where it left off from book 9..sookie still trying to get over her injuries from the fae war..sookie finds herself with a new housemate her cousin claude...she is still in a realationship with eric, which it is not without its own problems as his roman maker turns up with a child in tow...it has all our favorite characters in it [pam , jason, sam, bill, tara ,alcide....] these books are soo addictive...i love charlaine harris style of writing ,this book left you wanting more,i hope she is writing book 11....i love true blood books.....
