This is the first batman i have read, aware that Frank Millar is the boss i bought this to find a new area of reading. Anihoo this is really good, better than the film, i found the best parts were based around Gordon, his a really good story. Overall its pretty much perfect, the arts lovely, its a good length and weight, and it smells really good.

Best way to begin your Batman collection!

Frank miller made this novel to be honest you just know its going to be awesome. This shows you how batman really began it shows you how much he struggled at first not only physically but mentally too plus it shows you how police felt towards him at first. You will see how batman puts him selft to the test for the first time! Basically get it read it and you will see because i cant really tell you how awesome it really is. i Believe that everyone that likes batman should read this frist then start their collection off. If you have a batman collection put this first then put batman returns at the end with all your other batman books in the middle then you will see how perfect it is in your collection!

If you liked Batman Begins, You'll love this.

Top 100 Books Reviewer

Here it is the story of how Batman began as a super hero in Gotham City. This magnificant tale by frank Miller is easily on a par with his other great Batman creation Dark Knight Returns. Some would even say that Batman Year One is better as it stays within continuity while Dark Knight Returns takes place on an alternative Universe. Regardless if you liked the film Batman Begins this is the book for you as much of the film was adapted from this graphic novel. One word of warning though, if you're expecting super-villains you will be disapointed. This is a return to Batmans routes that pits him against mob-bosses and corrupt city officials just like when Batman started way back in the Golden Age. Essential for any Batman fan.

A great origin story for the Dark Knight.

Year One is a different Batman story. It shows us how he trained, prepared and eventually donned the cape and cowl for the first time.

It focuses on realism and the relationship between Batman and Jim Gordon and it is worth reading. A great story that influenced Christopher Nolan for the Batman origin film "Batman Begins".

It contains moderate violence and horror.

 Possibly the best Batman story

This is an origin story. Not just of Bruce Wayne into Batman but also the start of James Gordon as a cop in Gotham City and how they are linked from the very start.
Both Batman and Gordon have their own separate battles as they struggle to get a foothold in Gotham as well as crossing each others paths and the problems that generates for each other.
The artwork also matches the story so well.
Perfect for someone looking to start a Batman or graphic novel collection or anyone who just hasn't read it yet.
