Meet Carrie Bradshaw before 'Sex and the City!' The Carrie Diaries is the coming-of-age story of one of the most iconic characters of our generation. Before Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw was a small town girl who knew she wanted more. She's ready for real life to start, but first she must navigate her senior year of high school. Up until now, Carrie and her friends have been inseparable. Then Sebastian Kydd comes into the picture, and a friend's betrayal makes her question everything. With an unforgettable cast of characters, The Carrie Diaries is the story of how a regular girl learns to think for herself, and evolves into a sharp, insightful writer. Readers will learn about her family background, how she found her writing voice, and the indelible impression her early friendships and relationships left on her. Through adventures both audacious and poignant, we'll see what brings Carrie to her beloved New York City, where her new life begins.

As a SATC fan I thought this was a brilliant book - good to get to know Carrie before New York. It's the perfect holiday read!

I have to agree with the previous review, it does contradict some of the things raised in the TV Show, but I think as a novel on its own, it was a good read. I'm giving it a 3 because I thought we would get to find out a little more about her move to New York. I really expected alot more. The show starts when she, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha are all already the best of friends, but I would definitely like to see the build up to those relationships. Is it just me or did they never mention what year it was in the book? All you know is that it is in the 80s. Loved the ending to this book as it opens up a possibility of a sequel. I hope so!

not as good as i expected....

I was excited about this book as i am a big satc fan, but to be honest i found it a bit boring and really struggled to get into it. It does get a bit better towards the end but its not a book i would ever read again. Disappointing.
