 A sobering monument

It's a simple story of a man and his son wandering the desolate road looking for a better life in a post apocalyptic America, ugly and ravaged. The book is sobering and oppressive with the final effect emotionally shattering. The characterisation is diligently profound and the relationship between Father and Son is incredibly emotive. It makes other modern novels look infantile. It's heavy, but you will feel better for having read it, a true masterpiece.

Down A Road Not Often Travelled

This story makes a change to most post apocolpse stories by going down the line of character rather than plot, the story is mainly about the two survivors, father and son, just trying to survive by living by a set of morals few if any other humans still follow, they travel across an america unknown to us with the reasons why it has been changed unrevealed to us, we see the consequences of the father's decisions and the effect they have on himself and on his son's state of mind, a particularly early scene shows them enjoying something most people take for granted everyday, and also shows a scene which reveals somewhat the lengths a father will go to just to keep his son breathing, a classic, maybe, worth a read, defintely, maybe not enough depth in the plot though for some

I found this book quite dull, never really felt anything happened. It's very dark, probably to immerse you into the world the characters are in.
At least the film had Charlize Theron.

 The Love Of A Father

This book is startlingly good. Extremely well written very minimalistic and economic. Your emotions are switched on immediately. Not for those who want a fluffy read. The story benefits from not being some comment on where we are headed as a society if we keep on polluting or fighting, the appocolyptic setting is just the back drop for the beautiful relationship between a father and son and the boundless love a father will show in all situations. A hopless book filled with hope!

 A beautifully dark book

The story is very simple, in a setting that is grey and bleak. Its beautifully described in a way that really makes it seem real, and drags you into the story. Its an emotional book that deals with some interesting and horrifying situations that the characters have to go through. Sometimes what the author doesnt say, makes the issues that the father and son are dealing with more extraordinary. It seems repetitive at first but this is the nature of the journey of the father and son. Persist and its the most amazing book.
