Started reading this book on my flight on holiday, really couldnt put it down although I was away! Very addictive and the storyline is just incredible!
Really recommend this!
i am really surprised this book has so many good reviews... the characters were, at most, mildly likeable, and i was hoping for a lot more than it gave. the ending, as most of the story, was very predictable very early on. had it not been for the fact that i have to finish what i start i would have taken this to the charity shop a quarter of the way through.
Started reading this a month ago but could not get into it, picked it up again and yesterday and could not put it down. It is really good read for holiday or lazying in the garden on a summer day. Excellent book.
TOTALLY agree with beckybalboa, i found this book pretty much terrible. the characters and plot seem completely weak, with no real exploration or discriptions, and the plot feels like things were just thrown in to tie ends together. really not impressed at all. im so suprised it has so many good reviews?! i was expecting something as good as the timetravellers wife for example from the rave reviews on here! but sadly, it was rubbish.
Dorothy Koomsons books get better and better as she goes on have read them all, this being my 2nd favourite as her latest book is even better, Great story had me gripped from start !
I've just finished reading this book in about 2 days, I was unable to put it down, really really good!
I thought the characters were good and the ending was good, I won't spoil it but I was surprised the person who did it, did it!
It makes you think and you'll read it in no time! Just as fab as her other books, can't wait for Dorothy's new book!
Fabulous! Such a gripping book and I could not put it down. Dorothy Koomson writes with such conviction and so far I have found her stories absolutely amazing. A great addition is the back of the book and suggestions for discussion in book clubs...what a writer! Looking forward to reading My Best Friend's Girl now.
I absolutely loved this book! I could NOT put it down! Even once I had guessed the ending, I still found it so gripping.
Koomson develops these characters - from their 15 year old selves to their adult forms, and we can feel really in touch with both characters...it's very easy to feel emotional when these characters are trying to overcome these difficulties.
Dorothy Koomson has managed to touch on a few serious subjects such as domestic violence and rape. I originally thought this might make the book somewhat distasteful - luckily I was wrong...the author truly portrays these issues without attempting to glamorize them, as many authors do.
I would DEFINITELY recommend this book to anyone who loves a gripping, heart wrenching read. I was truly impressed with this book, and I can't wait to read some of her other titles!
Ive now read all of Dorothy Koomson books, this wasnt my favourite but it still had me reading it hours on end!!
ive read all of dorothy's books and this didnt disappoint. at a couple of points during the middle of the book i took a little longer to read some of the chapters but only very slightly, not enough to put me off. the story is heartwrenching, moving and emotionally powerful. Dont let the pretty pastel colours on the cover fool you into thinking this is your average fun chick lit novel. It has a dark plot, serena and poppy are the only witnesses to a brutal murder and is basically the story of thier lives in the years after the event. the outcome of the story will shock you and the story in general will stay with you long after you finish reading the last page. Highly recommended for anyone, whether this is your first experience of a novel by the author or if you are an existing fan! Very dark but enjoyable!
