This is a lovely book for anyone who enjoys cooking... or eating. It has an entry for just about every food combination you could possibly think of - from the familiar garlic and basil to the decidedly weird, chocolate and cauliflower. Niki Segnit's descriptions of flavour combinations are wonderful. I particularly like the description of beetroot and watercress.... "Earth and iron. Like a Zola novel with a happy ending. The love of rustic rosy-cheeked beetroot for outspoken watercress is requited" - brilliant!!
The book itself is a lovely thing too. The size of a 'normal' hardback rather than larger cookery type hardbacks. It has very pretty pink-edged pages
