This book is without a doubt one of 2010's autobiography diamonds.
From the first to the last page there is something to make you smile or in my case laugh out loud! From his early escapades on his journey through life to the extravagant lifestyle that his mother and father had hanging out with one of the 80s biggest if not the biggest comedians Kenny Everett, this autobiography provides a real insight into if you have a dream and want it bad enough it can come true. It's funny, interesting and a real 'page turner!'
I especially liked reading about his teenage years, couldn't stop giggling.
OMG!!! If you love michael mcintyre you will love this book, it actually made me laugh out loud, its also nice to read about his real life - this book is a must!
I loved this book ,my boyfriend bought me this book to cheer me up it done the job for sure, worth every penny so funny.
I thought that this book would hold one or two interesting stories, and a few laughs along the way. Instead, after the first few pages, I was already laughing non-stop as Michael takes such trivial things like setting up the writing area for his book, having car trouble at a new school, or playing Scrabble with his grandmother, and puts them down in writing - hilariously.
As the owner of both of his DVDs, I was a bit worried that his kind of comedy would suffer a little in the transition from stand-up material to text, but those worries were destroyed the moment I started reading. There are even some old photos from Michael's life, some silly, some heartwarming, but all with added captions from Michael that make them even funnier.
Of course, being a detailed autobiography, it includes some rather sad and personal moments, but these give the book an extra depth that couldn't have been seen in a constant stream of jokes. You'll laugh, cry, and empathise with him. Mostly laugh.
I'd say this is solid proof that Michael McIntyre can succeed as a comedian no matter what form his work takes. Strongly recommended.
Really funny book, my initial thoughts were that perhaps what makes Michael McIntyre so funny might not work as well as a novel but how wrong I was. I love his story telling and his ability to look at everyday things and and find humour in it and most importantly laugh at himself.
Great book you won't be dissapointed with this book, which explores Michael's life before he became such a big success story, true and honest account about life as a new comedian in a challenging world.
