Old enemies awaken as Camp Half-blood's new arrivals prepare for war. When Jason, Piper and Leo crash land at Camp Half-Blood, they have no idea what to expect. Apparently this is the only safe place for children of the Greek Gods - despite the monsters roaming the woods and demigods practising archery with flaming arrows and explosives. But rumours of a terrible curse - and a missing hero - are flying around camp. It seems Jason, Piper and Leo are the chosen ones to embark on a terrifying new quest, which they must complete by the winter solstice. In just four days time. Can the trio succeed on this deadly mission - and what must they sacrifice in order to survive?

I really loved going back to Camp Half Blood! The new characters were interesting and v.likeable and it was great to learn more about the powers of the other gods. This book puts a whole new twist on the Percy Jackson series and keeps you guessing what's going to happen next and what more there is to find out! I read it in 3 days- I just couldn't put it down! Cant wait for the next book in Autumn 2011! Would give it more stars if I could!!

After reading the Percy Jackson series I couldn't wait for this book to be released and when it finally was I was not let down! Whilst reading the Percy Jackson series you subconsciously learn all about ancient Greek mythology, now reading this you get to learn and understand parts of ancient Roman mythology too! This book is great for anyone of any age, I have read it, my Mother has read it and so have my younger siblings and all of us have thoroughly enjoyed it. The storyline is brilliantly enthralling, at times being quirky and funny therefore I would highly recommend this book!

This book is absolutely fantastic. With twists, shocks fight scenes on almost every page it is an absolute hard-to-put-down book! I read and adored the original Percy Jackson series made of 5 books, and although it doesn't seem absolutely 100% necessary to read them before this, I HIGHLY recommend that you do because it just makes this book that much more rivating. Practically every chapter had a cliffhanger, making me want to always read on without hesitation, but making me totally gutted when I had to stop. Rick Riordan wrote the novel from all three of the main characters perspectives (changing character every 2 chapters) which made this book so much more exciting as we can see and understand each character in so much more detail and really connect with them. New story, new characters, same exciting, action-packed author. The end of the book leaves us with an incredible cliffhanger that will smack your chin against your floor instantly. Extremely excited for the sequel, 'The Son of Neptune' as I'm sure it will be even more addicting, rivating, action-packed, incredible and a lot harder to put down than this one was. Magnificent book by a magnificent author. Highly highly recommend this book to anyone interested. 10*!! Enjoy.

First off you have to read the original Percy Jackson series to fully enjoy this book.
The book is brilliant and clever telling of classic mythology and like the original series has some rather clever twists. It is a good long ready with some real edge of your seat moments, I won't reveal them as it will spoil it for you. It is good how charecters from previous books have been interwoven into this story and the story has been kept fresh and new.

As good as anything Homer the greek writer could write!

This is a brilliant book and I highly recomend it to anyone who enjoyed reading the original books or any of the greek myths. Before you read this I would recomend reading the original percy jackson series as it links in fairly heavily.
