I am a great fan of true mountain stories and like most of them this book focuses on the real tradegy that unfolds. I bought this on a stag do because i knew i would have time on the plane out and on the way back to read it, I couldn't put it down, The author was not a mountaneer and despite early sceptisim that didn't matter because his objective view enabled him to ask the difficult questions of those he interviewed, those who survived. To imagine what it must be like to be knackered, without oxygen stood in pitch black and realise that the only path down has vanished without a trace. what would you do next? An excellent emotional rollercoster of a book. Must buy for mountaineering fans.
