For me this book was worth every penny. The plot development in each story worked so well and the pace kept you interested the whole way through.
I recommend this book to all

This collection from the Master of horror himself contains the following 5 short stories: 1922, Big Driver, Fair Extension, A Good Marriage, Under the Weather.
Each takes a different angle on how little someone knows about his/her spouse, friend or acquaintance and each leaves you with quite an image in your head of what just happened.

For me, 1922 left the biggest impression and is the first thing that comes to mind, when I think of this book. It's one of those stories you only have to read once to remember it for a very, very long time. King sets the scenery so effortlessly, that it plays out like a movie and you'll be able to describe each event in detail. Without revealing too much of the plot, this is probably the highlight in a very dark way in this collection and also a story. And not to take it the wrong way, but rather as a compliment on how vividly 1922 paints the picture, it's also a story I won't be reading anytime soon again.

Fair Extension and Big Driver are a classic Stephen King stories. Those could have been made into movies or at least short films from Stephen King's "Nightmares & Dreamscapes" series and they would have fit perfectly. So not many surprises there, but still quite entertaining.

If you're looking for big reveals and shocking moments, then A Good Marriage may be the story for you. It builds in a beautiful crescendo that leaves you on the edge till the end, no way to put the book down during this one.

Under the Weather is essentially a love story, no spoiler here, since that is pretty much the opening line. To me it was a little too bland, if you read it after the others you probably guess how it ends and then you're just going through the motions to confirm your initial suspicion. So I'd recommend to start the book in reverse and begin with this story.
