A very honest account of life in the hands of the Japanese. Hard to believe human nature can stoop this low. Makes you appreciate how much these men went through and what they fought for....and 'we're' giving it all away.

  Would recommend to everyone.

I'm sorry if this isnt an indepth review, as im not a fond reader. i bought this book as ive heard bits of alistairs story before. and im halfway through this book.. and wow. im amazed at the storyline and cant put this book down. i also cant help but put myself in his shoes as i read, the horrors he went through and the things he saw are unreal. its a very easy read. id recommend this to anyone who can read.. its a story that must be read.

I have read countless war biographies as i find the subject fascinating and this book is up there with the best. Its very easy to read and Alistairs story is remarkable, i have read this book twice as i struggled to comprehend the suffering he endured whilst imprisoned by the japanese and his survival is no more than miracalous. Truly awesome book
