"More Welsh Journeys" follows BBC Wales broadcaster Jamie Owen's summer adventure across Wales. A follow up to 2005's "Welsh Journeys", "More Welsh Journeys" sees Jamie cross the Preseli Mountains on horseback, mountain bike along the border in Oswestry, visit the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth and board a stream train along the Talyllyn railway. Jamie also returns to his sailing roots with a voyage around Flat Holm Island - the most southerly point in Wales, and takes in the timeless beauty of the Gower peninsula from the sea in celebration of its 50th year as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Interviews with Karl Jenkins OBE, perhaps Wales's most famous composer and Ben Osbourne, still photographer for the hugely successful BBC series "Blue Planet", illustrate the creative flair historically associated with the Welsh, surley inspired by the stunning Welsh landscape.

This is quite possibly the best of Jamie Owen's Welsh travel books. Ironic, since it's the only series of his that isn't available on DVD (*prods Aspect!*). It doubles up as an enlightening guide to parts of Wales that you may overlook or may never even have heard of, as well as being a rather attractive coffee table tome. The photography is stunning. Mr Owen has yet again succeeded in shedding his dour newsreader exterior to write a book that's witty, warm and often laugh-out-loud funny! (If you manage to read the paragraph about 'breezy' horses without laughing, you're not human.) In all, this book is well worth the money; because even if you're not planning a trip to Wales, flicking through the pages will give you just a hint of the relaxation and beauty to be found. I just wish they'd release the accompanying BBC series on DVD!
