Books
From time spent in the recording studio with Michael Jackson, to time spent in Customs with Jimmy Page; from hanging around in Los Angeles with Madonna to playing live in Berlin at Live 8 with Roxy Music, this is a book that has grown out of Guy Pratt's stage show - the basis of which is anecdotes from his life as a session musician, basically that of bass player to the stars.
He's worked with everyone from Pink Floyd, Bryan Ferry and Madonna, through to The Smiths, Tom Jones and Elton John. From the stage show he has a wealth of anecdotes to draw from: the show was a hit in Edinburgh and in London, where audiences were very well disposed towards him. He has a natural, easy manner, is very witty and is fairly self deprecating -- despite being a very talented bass player he has a kind of Hornbyesque take on music.
All in all it has the feel of Giles Smith's Lost in Music with an A-list cast.

Accidentally missed Guy's live show recently so thought I'd buy the book and glad I did, thoroughly enjoyed reading it, slows up a bit when it gets onto his first big break with Icehouse in the '80's but picks up soon after that and continues till the end. Main thing I was surprised about was how much drink/drugs he partook and still managed to be a bloody good bassist! Well recommended.
Been looking forward to this for ages!!

I saw the show of the same name when Guy came to London and it was fantastic! Stories galore about the ups and downs of life on the road. If book is based on the show then it's going to be a riveting and hilarious read.
This man has worked with the best Bowie, Pink Floyd, Madonna, amongst others. You will laugh out loud at the recording with Michael Jackson story - genius, Guy that is not Jackson. Buy it, Read it, Love it! This is essential reading for anyone involved in music.
