this is a good guide as far as the basics of the game and the main storyline goes however it doesn't tell you about the actual pokemon nor the moves that they learn so you can't preplan a team or see if a certian pokemon is going to be any good until you put in hours of training, this is saved for vol. 2 of the guide which isn't out for another month or so. Save your money.

As with the guides for pokemon heartgold and soulsilver, these have been divided up into two volumes. There has been a lot of grumbling about this, and yes it is a nuisance, but each guide focuses on fundamentally different things. This guide is great if you want to find everythnig and really get the most out of your adventure in the Unova region. It has a comprehensive and detailed walkthrough for both pokemon black and white, detailing all the areas (with full maps showing locations of trainers, items, pokemon etc), main battles and basic training tips (these, though only brief, do still cover around 30 pages!). If you are looking for a guide through the story, then this couldn't be better. If you are looking for tips and details concerning the pokemon themselves, then just buy volume 2. Yes, it is a bit irritating that the guide is in two parts, but when the guide is of such high quality it doesn't really matter.
