WHAT IF you could go back in time and change the course of history? WHAT IF the watershed moment you could change was the JFK assassination? 11/22/63, the date that Kennedy was shot - unless ...King takes his protagonist Jake Epping, a high school English teacher from Lisbon Falls, Maine, 2011, on a fascinating journey back to 1958 - from a world of mobile phones and iPods to a new world of Elvis and JFK, of Plymouth Fury cars and Lindy Hopping, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake's life - a life that transgresses all the normal rules of time. With extraordinary imaginative power, King weaves the social, political and popular culture of his baby-boom American generation into a devastating exercise in escalating suspense.

 Brilliant

Given the fact that the idea is not new, I went into this expecting it to be decent (how far can you take a well used idea), but Stephen's story telling, plot twisting, and character building are back to what he was famed for. It has action, comedy, violence, love, and a fantastic sense of nostalgia (reading it made me want to be in late 50's America so badly). Given that Jake goes back to Derry in 1958, it was inevitable that we would (finally) get reaquainted with some of the characters from IT. This was just a massive bonus for me.

I was sad when this finished, I really loved it. My 2nd favourite King book - behind IT.

 fantastic!

I am a bit hit and miss with Stephen King novels, but this one is a hit. It gave me a fascinating insight into 1950's America and got me interested in the facts surrounding JFK's death. Plenty of action, throw in a good plot and a good romance and there you have a great book. I think this story would make a brilliant film!

Up there with The Green Mile and The Stand

I have read all of his books and own them all. This is his best book since Under The Dome and is in his top 4 in my opinion. Could not put this book down as it keeps u hooked and guessing what will happen next right fromt he word go. It also makes u fall in love with the people and really hope everything works out ok for them in the book.
Also a amazing ending and very well reserched to make sure it was as correct as can be with facts about the time its set is!
AMAZING BOOK would recomend to anybody

Very enjoyable about a really interesting era in the USA. Slightly overlong with an ending that doesn't quite live up to the rest of the book (though certainly a better ending than Under the Dome).
