This was my first cookbook, and it was absolutely vital as I tried to make food from scratch for the first time. It contains a lot of delicious and simple recipes that can be made without a lot of utensils and fancy ingredients. It also explains a lot of basics about how to cook different vegetables, when they expire, how to preserve food safely, and meal plans to make the student loan stretch even further.
If you are a beginner like me, I recommend following the recipes to the letter. Don't add or remove things before you have made it at least once. Things that I generally don't like (like raisins) fit perfectly together (like in Korma Rice and Spinach) when you just do as the recipe says. Once you get the hang of it though, you should definitely try mixing things up.
