A sharp, witty and hugely entertaining novel, The Devil Wears Prada has become a generation-defining bestselling classic. Welcome to the dollhouse, baby! When aspiring journalist Andrea first sets foot in the plush Manhattan offices of Runway she knows nothing. She's never heard of the world's most fashionable magazine, or its feared and fawned-over editor, Miranda Priestly. But she's going to be Miranda's assistant, a job millions of girls would die for. A year later, she knows altogether too much: That it's a sacking offence to wear anything lower than a three-inch heel to work. But that there's always a fresh pair of Manolos for you in the accessories cupboard. That Miranda believes

Overall I really enjoyed the book. I think that when compared to the film, although very well cast and made, the book is a better. There are excellent parts of the book that don't feature in the film. Even if you have already watched the film I would say that the book is a must read.
I read this book before watching the film and I'm so pleased I did! The film is quite different and I think the book offers a much better insight into the lives of the characters which the film doesn't.
I loved this book, it is fantastically funny and would definately make me think twice about working within the fashion industry!
This books starts off OK, dips in the middle and has a really nice ending. I haven't seen the film to this book yet - but it maybe a rare occurance that film is better than the book!
There isn't a real story line until you get to the last 100 pages so it is a bit repetative - funny in parts but not a book I would highly recomend.
I did not particularly enjoy this book. I bought it as it was on sale around the time the film was released a few years ago, and have only read it the once since then. I just found I could not warm to the main character so did not care at what great lengths she went to in order to keep the job she didn't actually enjoy. It does give a good insight into the fashion world, but in my opinion stereotypes everyone as stuck up waifer thin bimbos. The lead character unfortunately in my opinion wasted her time spent in the book on a fruitless career nose dive. Although, hating to be too critical; if you like a book you do not wish to take too seriously this would probably give someone a good holiday read and I did read the whole thing so it wasn't dire...
Very good read- different to the film, i think you get a better idea of how the character is feeling in the book
if you enjoyed the film its well worth a read =)
