This book is superb when thinking of baking any type of cake, cookie, biscuit or tray bake. The instructions are easy to follow and the results are always great. My mum had this book ever since I can remember and she is the best cake maker I have come across! I am now getting my own copy to try and follow in her footsteps! The original publication of this book is quite old, however it still has weights in imperial and metric which is great for older and younger chefs. Would recommend to all abilities! Happy cooking!
The recipes in the book itself are excellent, with good instructions. However there are no pictures. Personally I like to see a picture and then the recipe to inspire me.
I bought this book as a total novice cook, but wanting to learn. The recipes were easy to follow and produced great results every time. From having no confidence in the kitchen, I've become a half decent cake maker, and it's down to this book! There is info at the start regarding equipment and general mistakes people make, which I also found helpful. This book was one of the best buys I ever made, my kids and hubby agree too!
