THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN is a wonderfully moving fable that addresses the meaning of life, and life after death, in the poignant way that made TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE such an astonishing book. The novel's protagonist is an elderly amusement park maintenance worker named Eddie who, while operating a ride called the 'Free Fall', dies while trying to save a young girl who gets in the way of a falling cart that hurtles to earth. Eddie goes to heaven, where he meets five people who were unexpectedly instrumental in some way in his life. While each guide takes him through heaven, Eddie learns a little bit more about what his time on earth meant, what he was supposed to have learned, and what his true purpose on earth was. Throughout there are dramatic flashbacks where we see scenes from his troubled childhood, his years in the army in the Philippines jungle, and with his first and only love, his wife Marguerite. THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN is the perfect book to follow TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE. Its compellingly affecting themes and lyrical writing will fascinate Mitch Albom's huge readership.

On a par with The Shack in my opinion. This book left me in tears for the beauty and love it seemed to ooze in the idea of heaven and the purpose to our lives. Some of the simple morality and heart wrenching moments filled my eyes instantly. Forgiveness and acceptance, morality and love are abundant in this book. I also couldnt put it down and as someone fairly new to the Christian faith, it conveyed a wonderful message of how our lives are inexorably linked and how we touch and are touched by others whom we may not even know. I loved this book and as with The Shack, I believe it is a must read before the time comes for us to meet our 5 people.
The highest praise for a truly beautiful read.

I heard this book being recommended, so bought it and have not been disappointed.
It is thought provoking as no one really knows what happens to us when we die.
It is a book that is difficult to put down and i have recommended it to my friends. My 11 year old daughter has now started it.

A wonderful and thought provoking story..

This is an amazing story, which will have you guessing at every page. I was told not to read this as was "strange" so that was me interested straight away! Its hard to put down and quite moving, I finished it over a week ago but can't stop thinking about it. Definately one to keep and re-read. I've since read One Day More, again an unusual insite into life and death, and am looking forward to Tuesdays with Morrie.

This book is amazing, it makes you feel sad, love, happiness, sorrow etc etc all in a little over 200 pages. Even though its short its perfect.
The story is very thought provoking & very very touching even filling my eyes with tears on a few occasions.
